Indiana registered sex offenders will now be required to provide the state with their e-mail addresses.
Attorney General Steve Carter addressed this new law today in Evansville.
It puts Indiana at the forefront of requirements and penalties for sex offenders who use the internet for illicit reasons.
Popularity of internet sites like Myspace has given offenders more ways to commit their crimes against children.
Offenders who fail to provide their e-mail addresses could be charged with a felony. The new law goes into effect July 1st.
