Indiana law enforcement is putting rules of the road to the test...the subjects, EVSC high schoolers. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is putting on a teen driving event to crack down on distracted driving and teach safe handling during emergencies. These wide open parking lots were classrooms for students from Mater Dei, Reitz and Memorial High School. Officials say teenagers account for a lot of traffic accidents, and they hope this course hits home on the need for practice and eliminating distractions. Skid simulators, airbags deployed, distracted driving. Its a busy and hands on day at Roberts Stadium teaching young kids about the dangers and responsibility of driving. Many students here have their permits or just received their drivers license and officials effective teaching to this age group is crucial. From drunk goggles to seat belt tests, these students and law enforcement agree that they need alot of practice and no distractions. A couple damaged cones are worth the lesson of safety. Officials say kids often follow the lead of their parents so if you routinely deal with phone calls, eating and other distractions its likely your kids will do the same.
