Ever wonder why gas prices keep going up? The consumer federation of America explained it today. Doctor Mark Cooper, the research director of the federation says there are a number of factors. According to Cooper, most of the problems are being made by the companies in charge of the oil refineries. So how did they get away with this in a capitalistic economy? The answer is simple. In the past decade there has been a massive merger wave that cut the number of major refineries in less than half. Cooper also said if nothing is done to change the current conditions, we could see four dollars a gallon by memorial day.
