After a tight race for U.S. Senate in Indiana, Democrat Joe Donnelly ends the race victorious.

Republican Richard Mourdock, faced heat in the late stages of the election after comments he made on rape and abortion.  Even after the comments, which drew national attention, it was not clear what, if any, impact it would have.  And even after the results were in, Mourdock maintained he stayed true to his beliefs.

"As I will look back on this might over the weeks, months and years ahead, I will look back knowing that i was attacked for standing up for my principles", Mourdock said in his concession speech.

Many key Republicans began distancing themselves from Mourdock following the controversial comments, which some say may have cost him the election.
