Justus McBride was just like any other six year old boy, but he started having seizures in August. When his mother got him tested, doctors found a golf ball sized tumor in his brain. After more than a month in the hospital, the McBrides organized an event to welcome him home called Dress Up for Justus.
As music peals through the air in Ferdinand, IN, the smiles on these faces belie the battle of one young boy. Six year old Justus McBride can no longer enjoy those things he loves most. Hunting, fishing and playing outside have been put on hold as he recovers from brain cancer.
For Justus's mother Kerina, the helmet he wears is a constant reminder of her son's pain. Friends and family say events like this benefit both Justus and his family. The support is invaluable. While the battle has just begun.
Justus's mother tells me she has set up an account at Old National Bank for him. You can find a link to the facebook page by clicking here.
