UPDATE:
Postseason college basketball is coming back to Evansville.  The NCAA announces the Division II mens basketball tournament will come to Ford Center in 2014.  The last time the tournament came to Evansville was 2002 at Roberts Stadium.
This time around Ford Center will be the host venue for the Elite Eight round of the 2014 tournament but If it wasn't here, the tournament wouldn't be coming either.
The electricity, the passion, the atmosphere of March madness is coming to Evansville, Division II style.  Ron Bonger of the Evansville Sports Corporation says he had his eyes on a bigger prize, a Division 1A first round game.  But without a hotel downtown, Evansville couldn't support the crowd base.
Two Tri-State teams could potentially play in the round of eight, Kentuckty Weslyan and USI.  But Bonger says if neither makes it, the event is still the prime location for some great basketball.
Bonger says the Evansville Sports Corp also put in bids for the 2014 Women's tournament, as well as college hockey but were denied.
But he says they are more than happy with the NCAA's decision to bring the mens' game to the Rver Cty.
