The Evansville Museum breaks ground at its downtown location. This has been in the works since 2008, but you may remember the economic collapse that year brought the construction to a halt. But after years of progress and fundraising, the more than $14 million project is in motion. The centerpiece of this new building will be an immersive theatre, a dome-shaped roof similar to a planetarium.

"You won't find attractions like this in very many cities," said Museum Science Director Mitch Luman. "We'll be presenting films and planetarium shows that take advantage of this unique enviornment that deal with science and astronomy. "

The construction will also add a new entrance and gift shop to the museum. No word on a completion date.
