After years of construction, a portion of Interstate 69 is finally opening near Evansville.  The 67 mile stretch will connect Evansville with Crane, IN. Governor Mitch Daniels will cut the ribbon Monday, along with other Indiana state officials.
But its not just 67 miles of asphalt.  People in bedroom communities like Petersburg and Oakland City see big business coming too.
For years construction has been the name of the game for the I-69 project. But all the hard work is paying off.  Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Interstate 69 project will open Monday, with sections 4, 5 and 6 expected to be complete in 2014.
People in surrounding communities hope the new highway brings in some new business. I-69 should also help ease the pressure from Highway 57.
Officials say tomorrow's event is private, but we'll be there and bring you all the latest right here on Eyewitness News on-air and online at tristatehomepage.com.
