Consumer groups are asking the State Legislature to entirely repeal the Rockport Coal Gassification contract. Under the contract, the Indiana Finance Aturhority would buy synthetic natural gas and sell it on the wholesale market. Profits would be split 50-50 between the proposed company and the state. But if the gas is sold at a loss, gas ratepayers would pick up the difference.
