FedEx Prepares for Busiest Day of the Year

By: Curtis McNeely
Updated: November 23, 2012

FedEx is getting ready for what it predicts will be the busiest day in company history next month.

The company expects it will ship more than 19-million packages on Monday, December 10-th.

That's 10-percent more than FedEx shipped on its busiest day last year -- and more than double the volume it handles on an average day.

FedEx says it thinks online shopping and people mailing holiday packages will bring more than 280-million shipments through the company in the next month.

To handle all of that extra volume, FedEx had added 20-thousand seasonal positions to help make the deliveries.
