Study: Micardis Has Fewer Side-Effects For Treating Blood Pressure (Chicago, IL) -- A newer blood pressure medication is just as effective but has fewer side-effects than an older drug for the same treatment. The findings are based on a six-year study of Micardis compared with the ACE inhibitor Altace. Micardis is generally used in patients with heart failure, but has been found to be effective in controlling high blood pressure. One of the less side-effects Micardis is said to cause are coughing. The results of the study are published online in the "New England Journal of Medicine." (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions) RNS-03-31-08 1135CDT
