Every year at this time, communities declare war on potholes. The Owensboro Street Department says this winter was as bad on the roads as any in the last several years. They ask you to call the City Action Line before April 4th to report your pothole. City crews will be patching potholes from April 7th-11th. Below, youll find a statement from the Evansville Mayors office announcing their efforts. News Release: From: Mayors Office, Evansville City, County Begin Pothole Blitz (EVANSVILLE, IN)- Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel and County Commission President Jeff Korb today announced a “pothole blitz” in the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County. Residents are urged to call in with pothole reports from April 1st to April 4th. The City and County will then map out all of the locations and come up with a strategic plan to patch the potholes. The blitz will begin April 7th and run through April 11th. “This winter has been particularly hard on our roads due to the numerous freezing and thawing events,” said Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel. “We want to get as many potholes fixed as possible in order to make the roads better for drivers.” The City of Evansville’s pothole hotline is 435-6000. The Vanderburgh County hotline is 435-5777. Callers should be ready to give specific information about the location of the pothole, as well as their contact information in case workers have trouble finding the pothole. “We understand why drivers get frustrated about them, but we can’t fix potholes unless we know where they are,” said County Commission President, Jeff Korb. “We need people to call the City and County and report potholes so we can get out and repair them.” Residents need to keep in mind that the State of Indiana maintains Diamond Avenue, Morgan Avenue, U.S. Highway 41, the Lloyd Expressway and State Road 62.
