A man is hospitalized after Evansville police say he crashed his mobile meth lab into a street sign.

It happened around 11:30 Monday night at the intersection of South Hebron and Powell, near Washington Avenue.  That's where police say they pursued 41-year-old Paul Hein, Junior, after a routine traffic stop.  Authorities say Hein lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a light pole and took off on foot.

Offices say meth precursors were found in the backseat of the vehicle.  Hein was found a short time later hiding in a tree a few blocks away.  He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Hein now faces charges of dealing meth.
