Flood warnings have been issued for the Des Plaines River in Lake and Cook Counties, the Fox River at Algonquin, and the Kankakee River at Shelby. The area was already saturated with snowmelt and rainfall before the showers and isolated storms that pushed through the area Sunday night and Monday. That extra precipitation has caused the Des Plaines River to rise about a foot. And if too much rain falls in Wisconsin and filters down the Fox River, that waterway could rise over its banks. Antioch and Fox Lake homes have already seen some flooding. Some emergency management officials are concerned that the floods could turn out to be as bad as those in August that damaged more than 400 homes. --- Rezko Trial Resumes With Levine Detailing Cellinis Involvement (Chicago) -- The corruption trial of Governor Blagojevichs former adviser and fund raiser has resumed. Mell is Governor Blagojevichs father-in-law. Levine also said that he and Cellini came up with a way to stop a plan consolidating three state pension funds under one board. Levine said Cellini proposed contacting Rezko and ex-Blagojevich fundraiser Christopher Kelly to get them to use their influence to kill the plan. In return, Levine said that he and Cellini would use their clout to give preferential treatment to Rezko and Kellys favored money-management companies. Rezko is on trial for allegedly shaking down companies that wanted to do business with the State of Illinois. Blagojevich, Cellini, and Kelly are not charged in the case. --- County Financial Officer Predicts More Financial Troubles (Chicago) -- Cook County residents still smarting from the upcoming sales tax increase may eventually need to dig even deeper into their pockets. A nearby elementary school was placed on lockdown as police investigated the shooting. --- Degorski Confession Now Allowed In Trial For 1993 Murders (Chicago) -- A panel of appellate judges has ruled that a jury can watch a videotaped confession in the Browns Chicken murder case. The judges Monday overturned Judge Vincent Gaughans ruling last year that the tape violated the Miranda rights of 35-year-old defendant James Degorski. The four-minute video shows Degorski admitting his role in the 1993 murders of seven people at the restaurant in northwest suburban Palatine.
