25 year old Michael Armstrong is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal accident in May 2003.
Armstrong admits he was driving when the victim, 18 year old Craig Mobley, jumped from the SUV while it was in motion.
Mobley later died from his injuries.
A guilty plea would end nearly four years of legal wrangling.
Any possible plea deal will be considered at the next hearing in June.
