Research: Cancer Patients Should Fast Before Chemotherapy New research says more lives could be saved if cancer patients fasted before undergoing chemotherapy. The "New Scientist" reports that testing shows mice with cancer typically lived longer when starved 48 hours before chemotherapy. The fasting mice had better survival rates than those who were not starved. University Of South California researcher Valter Longo says "if the results translate into humans, they could lead to significant improvements in chemotherapy."
