Owl Prowls at Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area co-hosted by Wild Birds Unlimited

Sundays, Dec 2, 16, and 30, Jan 6, and 20: 3:30 p.m. - dark; Feb 3 and 17: 4:00 p.m. - dark

Meet at the main boat ramp/information station at Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area (Warrick Co., IN), 1/2 mile east of the Boonville-New Harmony Road / Interstate 164 intersection (exit 15).

Come over to the Dark Side and meet the amazing birds that are active around dusk. We will visit viewing hot-spots within Bluegrass FWA and the surrounding area.  Bring your camera, binoculars or viewing scope and see Short-eared Owls, Great Horned Owls, Prairie Merlins, Rough-legged Hawks, Northern Harriers, and Bald Eagles.  If you don't have binoculars, Wild Birds Unlimited will have some available.  Participants are encouraged to dress warmly.

Tiny Tot's Holiday Ornaments (ages 3-5)

Friday, Dec. 7 JJA Museum 10:30-11:30

Tiny tot's ages 3-5 will design and decorate an ornament just in time for your tree. Dress for a mess. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required. Fee: $5.00

Holiday Ornament Designs (ages 6-13)

Saturday, Dec. 8 JJA Museum 10:00-11:00

Children ages 6-13 are invited to design and decorate 2 ornaments, one for mom & one for grandma. Just in time for those trees. Please wear old clothes. Pre-registration is required. Fee: $7.00

HC Encore Gifted Students Art Expo

Tuesday, December 4 5:00-6:30pm

Audubon Museum proudly presents the annual Henderson County Encore student exhibit and reception. All Henderson County Elementary 4th & 5th grade students will exhibit their works of art from the 3 week session of visual arts classes at the John James Audubon Museum. Faculty, parents and friends are invited to attend the opening reception Tuesday, December 4.. Free to the public.

Walk on the Wild Side

Friday, Dec 14 10:00 a.m.Museum - Bird Observation Center

Toddlers 3 - 5 years old. These 45-min.-1hr. interactive programs will explore what nature has to offer. With each new topic, toddlers will discover how wildlife and nature shapes the world we live in.

December 14 Five Feathered Friends- Many birds fly south for the winter. During this program we'll explore our five most common feeder birds and what we can do to help them stay warm.

Reindeer Run 5K Walk/Run - Sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance

Saturday, Dec. 15 8:30am

The final race of the Western KY State Parks Race Series wraps it up with the Reindeer Run. 
Registered participants will received race t-shirts, swag bags and the opportunity to win great prizes.
Awards will be given to the series winners at the race.

Adult Artists Retreat

Friday, January 18 JJA Museum Exhibit room

Beginning to advanced artists, are invited to participate in the all day Artist Retreats monthly from 9:00-3:00pm. Bring your own artwork and supplies. Lunch will be potluck. Special speakers and noon programs will vary monthly. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $15

"The Great Depression's Impact on Tri-State Life" Presented by Harold Morgan

Saturday, Jan 19 1-2p.m. John James Audubon State Park, Audubon Museum

Against the backdrop of the Great Depression, many government-funded New Deal programs, like the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA) sprung up across the country to put citizens back to work. Join us for this unique presentation, by local historian, Harold Morgan, on this monumental era, the impacts of these programs on the tri-state area, compounding weather occurrences, and recovery efforts through and after World War II. Cost: Free

Honeybees: A Sweet Success

Presented by Paul and Betsy Stone of Stone Hill Honey Bee Farm

Saturday, January 26 10 a.m. - noon Audubon Museum

Join us as Paul and Betsy Stone of Stone Hill Honey take you on a journey of the successful honeybee starting at 10 am with 'The History and Biology of the Honeybee' by Betsy. Paul will finish out the journey at 11 am with 'Survival of the Honeybee and How We Can Help.' Weather permitting see an observation hive and watch up close honeybee behavior. Samples of honey from around Kentucky will be available for tasting to show what the honeybees make in other areas, and how the taste is affected by the variety of nectar sources. The Stones have been beekeeping for 12 years. Their farm is located on Hatchett Mill Road between Zion and Spottsville.
