A new report shows 25 percent of University of Illinois undergraduates are from outside Illinois. Enrollment at the Urbana-Champaign campus is nearly 32,000, more than 3,500 students a decade ago. However, there are 200 fewer from Illinois, while the number of international students has skyrocketed. This type of growth is a departure from years past when officials pledged to limit out-of-state enrollment to 12 percent. School officials don't expect it to change either.
