Princeton city officials hope to breathe new life into an old Downtown Theater. The Gibson County Theater Company held a public hearing to unveil renovations to turn the theater into a performing arts and community center.
It's part of Princeton's Stellar Communities Projects to beautify downtown after receiving an $18.6 million dollar grant from Indiana's Community Development Block Grant Program.
"It shows great support and community involvement," said Princeton Mayor Bob Hurst. "A lot of times we'll have projects going or things going on, and at City Council and or Board at Works you might have two or three people here. And tonight the room was full, and it's full of excitement."
Officials hope to start renovations on the theater in early 2013 and finish the project by late 20-14.
