We're learning more about Lindal Johnson, the Vanderburgh County man killed by Sheriff's Deputies early Tuesday morning. Neighbors are still coping with the incident and now we're getting a better look at who he was. The deputies shot the 55-year-old at his home on Short Selzer Road after they say Johnson was tazed, then threw a hatchet at them. Those closest to him say they knew a different Lindal Johnson. Connie Johnson isn't related to Lindal Johnson but has lived on Selzer Road for almost 40 years, she says the man killed by deputies isn't a monster, just a man who never got the help he needed. This is the Lindal Johnson his neighbors knew, dancing and happy in this video. His neighbor Connie Johnson shared this with Eyewitness News. She says she's known Johnson for years, and always knew something wasn't right. The shots that took Lindal Johnson's life woke her up, and she's still torn on how his life was taken. But she says what people don't know is Johnson's kindness, his sense of humor and care for his neighbors and at the end of the day, a family, a mother has a funeral to plan. A soul she says was lost and his chance to change was cut short. Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams says his men followed standard procedure, an internal investigation is underway. Johnson leaves behind his wife.
