An Owensboro teacher gets a huge award at a school assembly, national recognition and a check for $25,000. Tuesday at Cravens Elementary, First Lady Jane Beshear and Kentucky Commissioner of Education Terry Holiday were on hand to deliver the largest teacher recognition program in the country, a Milken Family Foundation award to math teacher Ryan Williams. The recipient was unknown until the announcement. First Lady Beshear says this event holds a special place to her, she too is a teacher. The kicker, you can't nominate someone for a Milken Award, this organization finds you! Williams is the only 2012 Kentucky recipient. For this math teacher, he says there no better feeling than doing what he loves. Williams says this award is bigger than him and puts a positive spotlight on Cravens Elementary and at the end of the day, the kids are the real winners.
