In the midst of millions celebrating the holidays, a ceremony in Evansville is honoring both the men and women currently serving our country and those who lost their lives in the process. Oak Hill Cemetery is one of 700 sites participating in Wreaths Across America Day, where communities come together laying wreaths on the grave sites of veterans. This is the River City's second year taking part in Wreaths Across America, during the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and travel, many say the least they can do is stop and take a moment to show their appreciation. As the flags roll in the chilly December air, there are many in this crowd who are humbled. The River City Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol are paying tribute to veterans. This isn't Veterans or Memorial Day, its a day to say thank you, and although the weather is less than pleasing, Hoosiers here say they're proud of their fellow man. Every branch of service received recognition along with prisoners of war, then wreaths are handed out and placed on graves. Two simple words, thank you, a simple gesture of placing a wreath, these acts take little time but many say the effects are long-lasting.
