Evansville investigators are looking into the cause of an apartment fire that happened behind Washington Square Mall. They were called out shortly after 4 a.m. to find flames coming out of the downstairs apartment on Erie Avenue. Dispatchers tell us the fire started in the kitchen there, and they were able to limit the damage to that area. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross gave residents a place to sleep for the rest of the morning.
