Fatal Accident in Christian County

A fatal accident overnight in Christian County has left two people dead. Troopers say 39 year-old Shawn Patterson of Hopkinsville was driving on Kentucky 19-14 when he failed to stop and ran through the intersection at Kentucky 8-hundred and hit a tree head on. Patterson and his passenger 39-year old April Lykins of Elkton, Kentucky were pronounced dead at the scene. Police say neither were wearing a seat belt and alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor.
