UPDATE:
Evansville  police are still trying to piece together Sunday night's shooting that left one man dead. Police responded 500 block of South Denby and found 19 year old Davon Gee dead. Officials say a 79 year old man shot Gee after a fight between him and the man's grand-daughter. However,  there are still no arrests or charges. Vincent Rhodes lives nearby. He says he knew quickly a life was lost. 19 year old Devon Dee was killed after police say he was beating a 17 year old female in the front yard of 505 South Denby, then the woman's grandfather came out, told Gee to stop and investigators say the problems only got worse. EPD says Gee turned his attention to the grandfather and threatened to use a stun gun on him.  The grandfather's name is not being released but he told police he has a pace maker and other heart problems and feared for his life, as Gee inched closer,  the man fired one shot, hitting Gee in the chest.  A stun gun was found inside Gee's pocket. Many say no one wins when it comes to lives lost, and for Rhodes, seeing the body is still fresh on his mind. Police say the investigation will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office to determine if charges are needed. This case hasn't been labeled as self-defense, that decision is up to the Prosecutor as well, its being treated so far as a death investigation.
PREVIOUS REPORT:
We now know the name of the man shot and killed Sunday night on Evansville's southside. Vanderburgh County Coroner Annie Groves tells us 19 year old Devon Gee died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Evansville Police responded to a 911 call for a person that had been shot just after 7:00pm Sunday. Investigators say three people were involved in this incident, Devon Gee, a 17 year old female and a 79 year old man. Police say Gee and the female got into a physical fight and the 79 year old man who is the woman's grandfather told Gee to stop beating the woman. The grandfather told police Gee then threatened to use a stun gun on the man, and as Gee made his way toward the man, that's when the man fired one shot, striking Gee.
