2012 was a year of storms, of wind, but one thing 2012 will be remembered for will be the drought.
2012 featured the worst drought conditions in recent memory. As water levels on area rivers fell to low levels, farmers and home owners struggled with keeping their crops and plants hydrated.
And with the drought came the heat. 2012 featured some of the hottest temperatures in a generation, including a 106 degree high on the first day of the United Leasing Championship at Victoria National. Players and fans heeded caution in the blistering heat of the tournament.
Tornadoes headlined the first part of the year, with 2012 featuring the worst tornado in the Tri-State since 2005. An EF-4 tornado ripped through the city of Harrisburg in Saline County on February 29, with six deaths and winds over 170 mph. Newburgh and henderson county were also victims of tornadoes, with downtown newburgh impacted.
And now with winter here in full force, what will 2013 bring? Stay tuned.
