Good Samaritans Emerge in Snow Storm

Slushy and slippery go hand in hand with getting stuck. "It was a mess.
They were pushing and i was trying to push, and we couldn't get out,"
Kande Castros says.
All this snow is leaving some Tri-Staters in quite the predicament. Virginia Swope explains, "The street was full of snow, and I watched cars try to get up the hill, and some made it and some didn't. They'd get maybe halfway up and the tires would spin, they just wouldn't make it, and then they'd slide back down."
Just getting out of the driveway proved impossible to some, and others had trouble running errands. Castro saw this first hand, "I was at the Dollar Store, I wanted a cup of coffee and didn't have any sugar, got stuck."
However, something about this blanket of snow is making people want to comfort others. Swope's neighbor is one of those people, "My neighbor right there, he's the nicest thing. He cleaned all these streets." The ladies tell Eyewitness News Mr. Schenk is responsible for their clean driveways.
Across town, Castros has two random helpers of her own. "These 2 little girls, they couldn't have been no more than 17, pulled up, jumped out, tried to help me push, they couldn't, went in and bought a shovel, and shoveled me out, and then they went out and stopped traffic so i could pull out of the parking lot." Castros says her experience has inspired her own son, Tony, to shovel his neighbor's parking spot. Most of all, these random acts of kindness are helping the Christmas Spirit live on after the holidays. "It was just nice to know that there are still young kids who care about society," Castros explains.
