Officer Steve Hicks was chosen today at a luncheon held by the Kiwanis Club. Hicks has 13 years of experience in law enforcement. He's a field training officer, and says this is the greatest honor he's had, "Out of 285 officers, that's a pretty cool accomplishment. I can say I've gotten a few awards in my career, field training officer, and I can say I've been lucky enough to get a few here and there and of course, it's just an awesome honor to get recognized as the officer of the year for the entire department."
Hicks was selected by his fellow officers. He says he believes he was chosen because of his work with a narcotics case.
