"It's been a weird season for us, and everybody on staff has been constantly checking their emotions," Father Zach Etienne shares.
Christmas didn't feel like Christmas for the Dollison family. It was over a month ago when a 5 car accident shut down the Lloyd expressway for more than 6 hours. It was a rough time for Jean's husband, Kevin, "When I first saw her in the emergency room, it was more than i could bear."
Jean Dollison has been in a coma ever since, but today, when Kevin answered the phone, the voice on the line surprised him, "I asked her how she's doing. I heard her whisper, 'I'm okay.'"
Kevin tells us Jean speaking today was not expected, and that she'd had no prior communication,"I certainly believe in the power of prayer."
That faith is what Father Zach Etienne says keeps Jean so strong, "She's had this deep, spiritual faith life."
Kevin keeps that faith alive, even wearing Jean's cross around his neck.
Today's Christmas present, even a few days late, means the world to him, "To hear her voice, even a whisper, and to tell me that she loved me, was just so powerful, and to know that she's on her way back to us is a godsend."
Kevin tells me that before the accident, Jean would encourage her family during rough times.
Now her family is hoping for the next step in Jean's recovery, when she can walk out of the hospital on her own.
