Law enforcement agencies across the Tri-State report few DUI arrests during New Year's patrols.

Owensboro Police say five people are arrested for drunk driving.  Kentucky State Police in Henderson say they caught five more, including two each in Daviess and Union Counties.  Three Vanderburgh County drivers were also arrested overnight.  Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron Kaucher says New Year's reputation as one where there's a lot of drunk driving has more people planning ahead and finding designated drivers.

"People think everybody's going to be drinking and it's going to be crazy.  More often than not, they're being smart and staying put and getting a ride," he says.

Henderson Police arrested four drivers on drunk driving.  Officer Jennifer Richmond says New Year's has the same risk in drunk driving as any other holiday weekend.

"Any time people find a reason to join together in large numbers and celebrate, you're always going to have an increase in DUIs," she says.
