(Minneapolis, MN) -- Once thought to be an almost mythical creature because of their near elimination in the 1970s, heartier and stronger bedbugs are making a comeback.
Due to an increase in international travel and a ban on certain kinds of insecticides, the tiny pests have returned.
University of Minnesota researchers continue to look for an effective way monitor and eliminate the apple seed-sized insects.
The latest strain of bedbugs is more resistant to insecticide.
The pests feed only during the nighttime on human blood.
The bugs bite is painless, but can leave small itchy red bumps.
Experts recommend inspecting your room when travelling and checking your luggage to make sure none hitch a ride back home.
