Chief Deputy Dave Wedding made his candidacy for Vanderburgh County Sheriff official tonight. Wedding has served as Chief Deputy for seven years and is entering his 33rd year in law enforcement. Wedding says he was amazed by the turnout tonight as close to 400 people showed up to the event.

"I've been to a lot of political functions over the years," said Wedding, "and you don't see crowds quite like this. So, I believe we do have some support as we start out this campaign. I just want it to go smooth. I hope to run a good, positive campaign. And hopefully in 2014, I'm elected sheriff."

Wedding will run against long-time veteran, Jim Tucker, who announced his candidacy last month.
