Kentucky Lawmakers Eyeing State Pension Reform

Pension reform will be on the minds of many Kentucky lawmakers as the 30 day session begins. The mayors of Lexington and Louisville will meet with them in the coming days. A task force is created to address the state's unfunded pension liability. Some area lawmakers say there are ways to put money into the system immediately.
"W just had an amnesty for people that owed money," said Henderson Representative David Watkins, "and I think that's going to generate $55 million. I would think something like that would be a good place to take and put it in the pension system."
Other issues lawmakers may tackle this session include tax reform, Interstate 69, and legislative redistricting.
