Deaconess Women's Hospital opens its new fertility clinic Thursday. It will operate under the name Boston IVF at the Women's Hospital.

It is the first place in the Tri-State to offer the full spectrum of reproductive services. Doctors say one in six couples in the Tri-State struggle with infertility. Until now, many of these people were forced to travel to other cities -- like  Indianapolis or Louisville -- to receive treatment.

Amy and Don Menger of New Harmony are the first couple to conceive a child through the clinic. The Mengers saw their baby's heartbeat during their first ultrasound Monday.

"It was just unreal because we've been working at this for so long and with every other cycle there had been something that had come as a disappointment and just to see the reality on the screen," says Amy. "To me, there was nothing like it."

The public is invited to attend an open house at the clinic Thursday evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
