High waters after torrential rains have forced drivers in Webster County, Kentucky to detour, in some cases several miles, to get from their homes to work and shopping. The flooding canceled school there Friday. Despite rushing water in some places, some residents fed up with the lengthy detours chanced running through the flooded roads.
"They get brave," said Slaughters resident Ashley Scott. She and her family came out to look for the safest way for her husband to return home from work Friday.
"Really its a battle. You never know what roads are going to be flooded the most," she added.
Frequent flooding seems to be causing more drivers to shoot the rapids during times of high water.
