An Evansville pastor is now a "Distinguished Pastor". Father Bernie Etienne of Holy Rosary School receives the national award from the Catholic Education Association. The head of the school nominated him because of his support to Catholic elementary education.

Father Bernie was honored today with some special words from Bishop Charles Thompson, a Holy Rosary student, and a teacher. The pastor says he's grateful and happy to be able to help his students.

"It is important and incumbent on us to provide a very sound education program," said Father Bernie Etienne, "but beyond that we have the opportunity to help form these children in the faith."

A little side note about the pastor's family. He has five brothers and sisters with four out of the six in the church. One of Father Bernie's brothers is a pastor at Good Shepherd, another is a bishop in Colorado, and a sister is a nun.
