A hearing, but no vote, on a proposal that could change the way future consolidation referendums are handled in Indiana. State Senator Jim Tomes of Wadesville introduces a bill that would require votes in the city to be counted separately from votes in the county. Both city and county residents would have to say "yes" before the referendum would be approved. The Senate Local Government Affairs Committee hears testimony on the issue but delays a vote on the issue until later in the session.
