Murder charges are filed for an Evansville couple accused of beating their toddler to death. Amanda Brooks and Terry Lay were in Vanderburgh Superior Court Monday morning to face new charges in the alleged beating death of their 3-year old son, Kalab. The little boy's death was ruled a homicide last week. Now both his mother and father are charged with murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death, both felonies. These are new charges, in addition to last week's charges of battery and neglect of Kalab's siblings. The murder charge alone could mean 45-to-65 years in prison.
