Each Relay event offers participants and visitors an opportunity to celebrate the victory of area cancer survivors during a Survivors Lap. Those lost to cancer are remembered during the poignant Luminaria Ceremony. A special Fight Back Ceremony gives everyone the chance to proclaim their way of taking action against the disease.
The 2008 American Cancer Society Relay For Life season is supported regionally by WTVW Fox, Evansville Courier & Press and Regent Communications. Donations can be made to your local Relay For Life event by visiting www.relayforlife.org and clicking on Find Relay Events.
As the Societys signature event, Relay has been bringing cancer survivors and anyone touched by the disease together for more than 20 years. More than 4,800 communities throughout the U.S. now host an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event and have raised more than $2.6 billion dollars for the fight against cancer.
