It was a lovers spat between an ex and a new boyfriend as Austin Blaize appeared in court today the judge found probable cause and had to issue a search warrant for the weapon that was used in the crime. While court was in session and the search was being made, neighbors of Monier try to cope with the loss of their friend.
"I think we are heartbroken as a community for the families," says neighbor Carrie Butler. Shock sets in the neighborhood of Indian Hills as news of a neighbor's death spreads. "When i got home it was kind of an overwhelming, surreal feeling that this could happen just down the street.," says Butler. "I know the guy. I've road motorcycles with him. Super nice guy, and it's just kind of a shock for a small town," says fellow neighbor Sean Lopman. Police say Austin Blaize shot and killed forty seven year old Terry Monier. Blaize is Monier's daughter's ex boyfriend. We are told an argument between her new boy friend and Blaize ended in the death of her father.
Neighbors tell us the daughter's boyfriend ran from the home where the shooting occurred, into a neighbors home to get help. Now these neighbors feel the shock wave that has made it's way down their street. "It shook my kids. I have an eleven year old who text me and said he was scared," says Butler. Today they remember the life that was taken in an unfortunate altercation. "Nice guy. He would give you the shirt off his back," says Lopman. "He was just your typical motorcycle loving guy, Today, it kind of feels like an empty sickening feeing, at least to me because I knew the family. I spent time with some of their family members. Its heartbreaking. to know that something like this could happen, but that's the world we live in," says Butler. Austin blaize's next court date is set for March 17th.
