It's a dangerous job for law enforcement officers and their K9 companions. Today, a four-legged officer receives the best protection possible. Teague, an Indiana State Police K9, is now the proud owner of a bulletproof vest.

ISP has almost 40 K9's throughout the state, and Teague was the only dog without a vest. He's trained on tracking suspects and narcotics. His handler says he's an officer who deserves as much protection as possible.

"If we got called to something," said Trooper Seth Rainey, "we didn't have any type of equipment like this to put on him. Now, he has it, and it gives you a piece of mind to know he's got a vest on like I would wear when I'm here at work."

The vest is a donation. Evansville's district of the Indiana State Police has three K9's, and they now all are properly equipped.
