Icy Friday

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: January 25, 2013
A thin layer of ice on cars and roads is causing some travel problems throughout the Tri-State.

A mix of sleet, freezing rain, even some light snow began falling early Friday morning, prompting many area school corporations to either delay the start of classes, or close for the day.  In many cases, schools that announced delays, later changed course and announced that classes were canceled.

Area law enforcement agencies have also been busy, responding to a number of weather related accidents.  Indiana State Police reported several slide-offs in the Gibson and Knox County areas.  In Kentucky, an accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway slowed traffic during the morning commute.  Other trouble spots have been reported in Hopkins Ohio and Muhlenberg Counties.

Eyewitness News in continuing to follow the icy conditions and will bring you the latest both on-air and on-line throughout the day.
