An Owensboro homeless shelter is opening two new transitional housing units. The Daniel Pitino Shelter held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning. In early 20-12, it received $197,000 for construction. Families coming out of homeless shelters will be able to live here and pay rent until they're able to afford standard housing.

"There's no words to explain." said Shelly Shrum who is receiving a new home. "I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's just so emotional. It's beautiful to be able to come in here and move into a brand new house and brand new furniture. You know my daughter is going to have her own room to play in. It's wonderful."

The goal is for the families to evenutally move into traditional housing.
