Several small businesses in Evansville say they don't plan to enforce new credit card fees.

The new fees stem from a settlement between credit card companies and merchants.  It allows them to charge customers paying by credit an extra 1.5% to 4%.  The fees went into effect Sunday.  Some owners like Joe Anglin of Twilight Bistro on Main Street says he doesn't plan to apply the surcharge any time soon.

"We want to hold our line for another six months or so," he says.  "I don't see how raising anything is helping anybody right now."

Other owners, including Michelle Wiltsie of La Sondra Coffee Roasting Company calls the surcharge unfair.

The new fee won't apply to debit card users.  Businesses who do apply the credit card charge will have to let customers know when they do.
