A big day for the police department in Evansville. There are now six new recruits on in the department. They are sworn in today during a ceremony at the centre. Several veteran officers were given special merit awards, and one officer promoted to corporal. Fellow officers do have some good advice to pass along.

"Always remember why you took this job," said Officer Anna Gray. "Usually, the first thing out of any officer's mouth is I want to help the community. I want to save lives, and don't forget that. Take that to heart. And even when you're having a really bad day, just know that there's always something positive to come out of every day."

It's a young class with all recruits are in their 20s.
