Seven Or More Eggs A Week Raises Risk Of Death?

Seven Or More Eggs A Week Raises Risk Of Death (Washington, DC) -- Researchers say middle-aged men who eat seven or more eggs a week have a higher risk of earlier death. The study by Dr. Luc Djousse and Dr. J. Michael Gaziano of Brigham and Womens Hospital and Harvard Medical School adds to a body of evidence, much of it contradictory, about how safe eggs are to eat. The study did not examine what it was about the eggs that might affect the risk of death. In addition, men with diabetes who ate any eggs at all raised their risk of death during the 20-year study period. Men with no diabetes could eat up to six eggs a week with no extra risk of death. The study is published in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition." (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions) RNS-04-09-08 0301CDT
