Public Hearing Wednesday on Sunday Alcohol Sales

There is some new hope for Sunday alcohol sales in Indiana.
Indiana lawmakers are now ready to hear what the public has to say on proposals to end the state's long-running ban on Sunday retail alcohol sales.
The Public Policy Committee has scheduled a public hearing at the statehouse Wednesday on bills that call for a lifting of the state's ban.
Indiana is currently the last state in the nation to ban retail alcohol sales on Sunday. Supporters of the bills argue the ban costs the state nine-million-dollars in lost tax revenue, but many package liquor stores argue the cost of opening on Sundays would make it impossible for them to compete with big supermarket chains.
