The death of three year old Kalab Lay jolted our community, leaving many asking why. Evansville resident, Patricia Galbraith says her heart was broken when she heard about the little boys death, allegedly at the hands of his parents. She was inspired by Oklahoma, which claims to have some of the toughest child abuse laws in the country. Galbraith and others have started a petition of hearts to get the ball rolling on what they call kalabs law. The bill would place child abusers on a similar public registry as that of sex offenders. She believes it would be something more substantial than the one already on the books. An organizational meeting for Kalabs Law is being held Tuesday April 22nd at Central Library in Evansville. It starts at 6:30 and is open to the public. Galbraith hopes many will show up in support of Kalabs Law, including state legislators.
