Yoga Helps Older Women Balance And Stand Taller

(New York, NY) -- Yoga apparently has benefits for older women. Philadelphia researchers say elderly women showed measurable improvements in their walking speed and balance after a nine-week yoga program. In addition, on average, they gained a centimeter in height. Dr. Jinsup Song of Temple University, who headed up the study, says the only explanation may be that the older women are standing more upright and dont crouch. Song presented the findings April 4th at the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Societys annual meeting. (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions)
