Traffic Stop Leads to Pot Bust in Gibson County

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: February 20, 2013
A Mt. Vernon man was arrested in Gibson County on Tuesday, after Indiana State Police say he hid drugs in a female passenger's shirt during a traffic stop.

Troopers say they pulled over 36-year-old Joseph Tieken for speeding in Oakland City. As a Trooper approached Tieken's vehicle, he says he could smell burnt marijuana. He also says it was determined Tieken had been smoking the pot while driving.  Tieken is also accused of giving a small bag of marijuana to his 17-year-old passenger just prior to being pulled over.  Troopers say the teen hid the bag in her shirt.

Tieken was arrested and charged with two counts of marijuana possession.  The 17-year-old was not arrested.
